Design Concept

Bloom is inspired by the Japanese cherry blossom tree. The floral geometry of the shades, made of recycled stained glass, correlates with the branding developed for heiwa, the Japanese fine-dining restaurant whose patio the fixture was designed for. The shades are attached to black, Kynar-coated aluminum stems, and the color variations of the stained glass were kept as true to a natural cherry blossom as possible. Efficiency, durability, sustainability, and easy installation and removal were all key design goals for this fixture. The efficiency of Bloom was addressed through the use of an LED lamping system. Both the durability and the sustainability were addressed through the materials utilized to construct the fixture, with the stained glass shades being made of recycled content and the Kynar coating increasing the lifespan of the aluminum. Bloom also utilizes an Energy Star certified LED lamping system to increase its sustainable qualities. Finally, Bloom has an easy installation and removal method by simply screwing the mount into the provided ceiling plate. The individual pendants are also removable by unscrewing them from the mount itself.
